For Parents & Teachers

Snuggle up after reading Bobby McBee Finds a Friend and ask a few of these. There are no wrong answers!
- When Bobby felt scared, he called out to Jesus. What can you do when you feel scared?
- Queen Libee knew Bobby's name. Who knows YOUR name even better?
- Miss Honeycomb said following Jesus starts with one small yes. What's one way you can follow Jesus this week?
A Little Prayer (from the book)
Dear Jesus, thank You for knowing my name. Thank You for loving me so much. Please forgive me for the wrong things I do. Help me follow You every day, one buzz at a time. Amen.
Kids can pray in their own words anytime. God loves to listen!

How we show Jesus in our art
In Little Followers, the friends are bees and bugs, but Jesus is never a bug. Jesus is the real Son of God. He is fully God and fully man. So we never draw Him as an insect, and no character ever stands in for Him. Father Buzz carries a shepherd's staff and teaches about Jesus, but he is never Jesus.
When Jesus appears, it is only as a gentle, faceless, golden Good Shepherd silhouette with His staff and a little lamb. Out of reverence, we leave His face to the pages of the Bible. He is the only one who glows; no bee or bug ever has a halo or shines. The cross and the empty tomb appear only in soft, simple "story clouds," with no scary details.
We never put made-up words in Jesus' mouth. When He speaks, we use the Bible's own words, quoted exactly from the New International Reader's Version (NIrV).
Teacher helps
Sunday School / Classroom Guide: Book 1, "Bobby McBee Finds a Friend Who Knows His Name" (about 45 minutes, ages 4 to 9)
- Buzz In (5 min): Name game. Each child says their name, and the class buzzes back, "Jesus knows ___'s name!" (Do it out loud only; nothing gets written down or collected.)
- Story Time (12 min): Read Book 1 aloud. Pause to let kids make sound effects (ZOOM! BZZZZZ-ZOOM! Swish!).
- Big Truth (5 min): Jesus knows me by name and loves me. Jesus is God's Son. He died on the cross for my sins and rose again. Forgiveness is a gift we receive by trusting Him, not by being good enough.
- Memory Verse (5 min):
โI am the good shepherd. I know my sheep, and my sheep know me.
John 10:14 (NIrV). Add hand motions (staff, pointing to self, hugging a lamb). - Talk About It (8 min): Pick three questions from the Book 1 list.
- Activity (8 min): Ages 4 to 6: Shepherd's Staff and Lamb craft or Bobby's memory-verse cards. Ages 7 to 9: word search plus the "Jesus Knows My Name" honeycomb.
- Pray (2 min): Pray the Book 1 prayer together, or let kids pray in their own words. Invite gently, never pressure, and follow your church's practice for talking with families if a child wants to follow Jesus.
- Take Home: A half-page parent card with the verse, three questions, and the prayer.
Guides for Books 2 and 3 will be added when those books are released.
